Bible Study Resources For Working Christian Moms

Here’s the truth. If we are going to be working moms who love God and thrive, we’ve got to get into the Word of God! You might be in a season where you’re short on time and don’t have a lot spare minutes in your day. You might be in a season where  you’ve got a full hour or even more (that’s my favorite… when I can spend as much time in God’s Word as I want to). These are my personal favorite Bible Study resources for working Christian moms. I know there are many more options out there, but these are the ones I use and adore!

Bible Study Resources For Working Christian Moms

If You’re Running Late And Have Zero Minutes.

Seeds Family Worship Music :I was first introduced to Seeds Family Worship via the God Centered Mom podcast. Their mission is “to see God’s word in every single  home.”  When I am running late and have  zero time for a “quiet time,” I put one of these on and get about my day. Seeds of Courage and Seeds of Purpose are two that are always on repeat, either while I’m making breakfast for the kids or in my earbuds on the walk back home from school.

What I love: This worship music is God’s word set to music and is straight up scripture. The tunes are catchy and I have memorized so many verses this way

If You’ve Just Got A Minute Or Two.

The Bible: I could spend hours diving into God’s Word but sometimes I’ve only got a minute or two. As it turns out, that can be just a fruitful as having a long period of time. God wants to speak to us and one of the ways he does it is through meeting us in his Word.

What I love: God’s Word is always a place where God meets me, even if I just have a minute or two. I personally toggle between three bibles. I have my tried and true NIV Study Bible that is like an old friend to me, a She Reads Truth Bible that is newer in  my life with clean margins and a fresh slate (plus tons of great reading suggestions to dig deeper) and an ESV leather bound journaling Bible that I take to church with me on Sundays to take sermon notes in.

If You’ve Got 3 Minutes.

She Reads Truth App Or Website:I have been part of the SRT family since the very beginning, because I’m a huge Jess Connolly fan (she’s one of the co-founders). Started in 2012, She Reads Truth started as a group of internet strangers (turned friends) wanted to form community around reading God’s Word together. Theologically sound and beautifully crafted, this devotional packs a one-two punch. Not only do their daily devotionals lead you deep into God’s Word, they do it in such a way that you can spend 3 minutes or 25 minutes. In addition to digital study, they’ve got physical devotionals  available for purchase and have recently come out with their own Bible (which I love)! My most beloved bible study of all time was their very first Ruth series.

What I love: She Reads Truth is available as an app for your phone, online, or via physical product. The digital versions of their Bible studies and devotionals are connected to Biblia.com, which makes it easy to look up the scripture from right on your computer or device.

If You’ve Got 10 Minutes.

Write The Word by Cultivate What Matters: I’m an OG with this product and proudly have one of the first copies of the first iterations (that one was just a series of foundational verses). The Write the Word journals have been such a sweet spot in my life. There is room on one side of the page to write scripture and room on the other side of the page for journaling / prayers / or thoughts. There are several current topics including gratitude, joy, faith, hope and renewal.

What I love: I connect best with God’s  Word when I write it and I love these pretty journals! In the journaling section, I often write prayers to the Lord. It has been so  fun to go back and read through, and to see what He has answered! In addition, leaving a legacy of faith in my own handwriting is really important to me and this is a fun way to do it!

If You’ve Got 15 Minutes.

The Psalms Journal Pages by Katie Orr: As I said before, one of my favorite ways to connect with God’s word is through writing it. I’ve got a lifelong goal to leave all of the Psalms in my own hand for the generations after me. This journal is blank pages to write the scripture out or to make your own observations / notes. I typically read through the Psalm I’m working through in several translations (NIV, ESV, CSB), make notes about what stands out to me and then write out the entire passage.

What I love: I don’t have to work through the Psalms in order and this book comes with a 31 day reading plan. Katie has a giftedness for teaching God’s word in a way that really connects with me. Her Focused 15 series is also great.

If You’ve Got 20 Minutes.

Sparkling Gems From The Greek by Rick Renner: This 365 day devotional is something that has 100% helped me fall even further in love with God’s word. There is a devotion for each day, plus the Greek breakdown of a focus word, prayer, confession and questions you can answer. I don’t always read this everyday, but when I do, I’m blessed. The layer of context that I get from knowing the Greek word(words) is outstanding. This book has the cheesiest cover ever (sparkling gems on a purple background) but the content is very meaty.

What I love:  There is  a value-packed entry for everyday and this has helped me grow in my understanding of God’s word. While there is a loose thread /topic that it follows, I can pick it up and put it down without feeling like I’ve got to go back to the ones I’ve missed. Each day’s entry stands on it’s own.

I almost always start with the Bible. From there, I move into my Write the Word journal and then Sparkling Gems From the Greek. I write in Katie Orr’s Psalms Journal, listen to Seeds Family Worship and catch the SRT devotional about twice a week. There are no less than one million options out there for Working Christian Moms who are looking for Bible Study Resources.

This was immensely helpful! I love how you broke it down into time increments knowing that there are days/seasons where our time is stretched. No judgment about making sure we’re up everyday for an hour (which is awesome when we can)- but what to do that is accessible when we can’t. I’m super excited about this site and this community!

The truth is that we’ve all got time! God loves meeting with you just as much at 4:30 am as he does at 3:00 pm or 9:00 pm! Thanks for your encouragement, this has been a God Sized dream for a very long time!
